Spotify Playlist – October 2018

Having recently launched our new season, we’ve put together a Spotify playlist giving you a flavour of the incredible range of music you can expect at the Theatre Royal and Norwich Playhouse.

Thriller Live features the songs of Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5. Direct from the West End where it’s in its record-breaking 10th year, this thrilling musical will have you tapping your feet in a breath-taking celebration of the music of a legend. Alexandra Burke returns to Norwich in romantic smash-hit The Bodyguard, featuring hits such as ‘I Will Always Love You’, ‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody’ and ‘I’m Every Woman’. The Royal Shakespeare Company present Romeo & Juliet with a stunning blend of classical and contemporary works by Sophie Cotton. Gary Barlow and Tim Firth’s Calendar Girls The Musical tells the true story of a group of ordinary women who achieved something extraordinary, while the Norwich and Norfolk Operatic Society follow their successful run of Top Hat earlier this year with the award-winning musical comedy Guys & Dolls.

If you’re looking for the perfect festive treat this Christmas, Elf the Musical will be welcoming Buddy to the Norwich Playhouse in December. Alternatively, pack your bags for February’s feel-good Club Tropicana The Musical as it fights off the winter blues and transports you straight to your summer holiday.

Our pioneering classical concert programme keeps going from strength to strength. In December The Czech National Symphony Orchestra welcomes seasoned music lovers and newcomers alike, as they are joined by one of the UK’s most exciting and brilliant young musicians, violinist Jennifer Pike. Meanwhile, take a trip back in time to the 1920s and 30s at the Playhouse with The Pasadena Roof Orchestra as they recreate the sounds of a golden era. Our commitment to presenting opera continues with the return of the English Touring Opera and its production of Elizabeth I, plus the iconic Glyndebourne Company presents La Traviata in its latest programme.

This season we welcome the return of Norwich favourites Beyond The Barricade and Rumours of Fleetwood Mac. In January, on the very day that would have been the King of rock’n’roll’s 84th birthday, Rob Kingsley presents his outstanding tribute A Vision of Elvis. You can also dance to classics from your favourite artists at the Playhouse.

There is live music for all tastes as 10CC, Barbara Dickson and Mike & The Mechanics, bring their greatest hits to Norwich.

We will be continuing to showcase the best in world dance as Northern Ballet present the festive classic The Nutcracker, honouring Tchaikovsky’s iconic score.
